The North Allegheny School District is once again opening its doors to young athletes with the Boys Tiger Cub Basketball program, a summer staple that welcomes 4th‑, 5th‑ and 6th‑grade boys to the court.
Running from early August through late October, the program meets twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays, each session stretching from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. inside the Ingomar Middle School Gym, giving participants a consistent routine over ten weeks.
Families can enroll a single player for $200, or opt for a family package at $350, with the option to prorate the fee if a child can only attend a subset of the dates; registration is handled online through the district’s athletics portal.
A Coach With Three Decades Of Experience
Guiding the camp is Rock Gabos, who serves as the North Allegheny 9th‑grade coach and brings more than 30 years of basketball coaching expertise, a background that shapes the program’s focus on fundamentals and positive development.
Each 90‑minute session is deliberately structured: the first half‑hour hones basic skills, the next half‑hour introduces basketball concepts, and the final half‑hour provides individual or small‑group playing time, ensuring that every child receives both instruction and practical experience.
While competition is part of the experience, the camp’s philosophy places player development and enjoyment at the forefront, keeping the pursuit of victory secondary to personal growth and teamwork.
