The Town of Oyster Bay is set to host a New York Islanders ‘Learn to Play’ Hockey Clinic aimed at children between the ages of five and nine, offering an eight‑session introduction to the sport as part of the Future Islanders Program.
Beginning on August 5, the sessions will be held on Wednesdays at 6:15 p.m. and Thursdays at 6:00 p.m., each lasting one hour at the Town of Oyster Bay Ice Skating Center in Bethpage.
The program is designed to transition first‑time players into organized hockey and provides all necessary equipment for participants, ensuring a seamless entry into the game.
Program Logistics and Cost
Registration carries a fee of $295 per child, which covers the full suite of hockey gear, and spots are limited, prompting early sign‑up to secure a place in the clinic.
Special guest appearances are planned, with former Islanders players Arron Asham and Radek Martinek slated to meet the youngsters during the sessions, adding an inspirational element to the experience.
Town Councilman Anthony Monteleone expressed his pleasure in partnering with the New York Islanders to offer the clinic, emphasizing its value to the local community and its role in promoting youth sports.
