Cayden Boozer is set to return to Duke for the 2026‑27 campaign, rejoining a backcourt that already features point guard Caleb Foster and guard John Blackwell.
During his freshman year he logged 7.7 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game in just 22.8 minutes per contest, shooting 30.3% from three‑point range.
When Foster missed five games with an injury, Boozer stepped into the starting lineup and posted 13.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists while playing over 36 minutes in four of those contests.
His playmaking was evident in a 3.0 to 1.3 assist‑to‑turnover ratio, and he showed he could finish at the rim as well as stretch the floor.
A Crowded Guard Room
The Blue Devils' backcourt is among the deepest in the nation, also welcoming five‑star recruit Deron Rippey Jr., which creates a competitive environment but also gives the coaching staff multiple options.
Coaches have highlighted Boozer's defensive versatility, noting his 6‑4 perimeter presence and ability to guard multiple positions.
While his minutes may not jump dramatically from the 22.8 he averaged last season, the increased responsibility is expected to sharpen his impact on both ends of the floor.
