A new schedule takes shape
Fred Hoiberg, head coach of the Nebraska men's basketball program, revealed the 2026‑27 non‑conference slate, a schedule that blends early‑season exhibitions with carefully chosen neutral‑site matchups and a handful of marquee home games.
The preseason begins with three exhibition contests in October. Nebraska will host St. Louis on October 9 before traveling to Provo, Utah to meet BYU on October 16, and then heading to Grand Island, Nebraska for a showdown with Kansas State on October 26.
Regular season kicks off and neutral‑site battles
The regular season opens on November 2 against Le Moyne, marking the first-ever meeting between the two programs. In the weeks that follow, the Huskers will test themselves against top competition at neutral venues: a November 7 appearance at the Basketball Hall of Fame Tip‑Off in Uncasville, Connecticut, where they will face Providence; a November 15 game at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota against Boise State; and a November 22 contest at Credit Union 1 Arena in Chicago, Illinois versus Butler.
Later in the month, Nebraska will host Creighton in Omaha on December 5, an in‑state rivalry that promises a lively atmosphere. The team will then travel to Kansas City for a Big Ten‑SEC clash against Missouri in December, adding another high‑profile test before the holiday stretch.
Closing the non‑conference slate at home
The non‑conference portion wraps up with a series of home games in mid‑December. Nebraska will entertain Mount St. Mary’s on December 17, host Fairleigh Dickinson on December 20, and close out the schedule with a matchup against New Haven on December 30, giving fans a final chance to see the Huskers in action before conference play begins.
