Academic Excellence on the Field
Eastern Washington University’s football program posted a cumulative grade point average of 3.46 for the 2025‑26 academic year, the highest among the twelve members of the Big Sky Conference.
The figure reflects the performance of every player on the roster over the full year, not just those who saw action on the gridiron, and underscores a culture that values scholarship as much as competition.
A total of fifty‑two Eagles earned GPAs above 3.0, and three individuals achieved the perfect 4.0 mark, a testament to the team’s balanced approach to academics and athletics.
Recognition came in several forms, including thirty‑seven players who were named to the Big Sky All‑Academic team for the fall quarter of 2025.
In January 2026, six athletes received CoSIDA Academic All‑District honors, among them Dylan Conner, Landon Cooper, Jaylon Jenkins, Landon Ogles, Trevor Thurman and Nolan Ulm.
Later that April, seven Eastern Washington student‑athletes were selected for the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society, a group that includes Conner, Cooper, Ogles, Thurman, Ulm, Aidan Corning and Noah Cronquist.
Nolan Ulm also distinguished himself as a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, an award that celebrates academic excellence combined with community service.
The department’s academic momentum continued into the spring quarter of 2026, when the football team posted a 3.27 GPA, contributing to a 3.0 cumulative average for the 57th consecutive quarter.
