A Dual‑Sport Commitment
Layla Tucci grew up swinging clubs on the fairways of Big Rapids, Michigan, but when spring arrived she laced up cleats and joined the high school soccer squad.
Playing defensive midfield, she quickly became a linchpin for the team, helping recruit three new players and contributing to a district first‑round victory over Muskegon.
Tucci said she prefers the collaborative atmosphere of soccer to the individual focus of golf, and she intends to return to the golf course in the summer after the soccer season concludes.
Big Rapids High School, a long‑standing hub for the district’s athletes, has a history of competitive teams, including an undefeated Central State Activities Association golf squad before Tucci’s involvement.
