The Greenville Swamp Rabbits have secured the commitment of veteran defenseman Peter Tischke for the upcoming 2026‑27 campaign, adding a seasoned presence to their blue line.
A Strategic Addition for the Rabbits
Tischke, who spent three seasons battling the Rabbits as a South Division rival, most recently suited up for the Jacksonville Icemen, brings a blend of grit and offensive acumen that the club hopes will translate into more wins.
Across 53 games with Jacksonville this season he posted 15 points, including three goals and twelve assists, while also contributing an assist in four appearances for the Rochester Americans in the AHL.
His professional résumé stretches back eight years, featuring six campaigns in the ECHL where he accumulated 53 points in 202 games for outfits such as the Savannah Ghost Pirates, Cincinnati Cyclones, and Utah Grizzlies.
In the American Hockey League, Tischke has logged 82 games with modest offensive numbers, adding a single point for the Colorado Eagles and a brief stint with the Rochester Americans.
Before turning pro, the defenseman honed his craft at the University of Wisconsin, where he earned Big Ten Honorable Mention honors in 2017 and 2018 and captured the 2019 Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.
The move underscores the Swamp Rabbits' intent to blend youthful energy with veteran savvy as they look to climb the league standings, and it marks a new chapter in a career that has seen him excel across several professional leagues.
Fans can expect to see Tischke's physical style and veteran poise when the team opens its next home stand, adding a new layer of depth to a roster that continues to evolve.
