Ohio State University has rolled out a fresh playing surface on its football field, marking the latest upgrade to the venue that hosts the Buckeyes each fall inside Ohio Stadium.
Game‑On Technology Meets NFL Standards
The new turf, supplied by Shaw Sports Turf, utilizes the company’s Forge Series system equipped with Game ON technology, a solution engineered to meet NFL standards for player performance and safety.
Beyond durability, the surface boasts a more vivid scarlet hue and alternating shades of green, while the field markings are printed directly into the grass through the Game ON process.
The installation follows a replacement that took place in 2022, but coaches and medical staff have reported a rise in injury complaints that prompted this second‑generation upgrade.
Cameron Fontana of ABC 6 in Columbus gave viewers a first‑hand tour of the revamped field, highlighting the visual impact and the precision of the new markings.
Athletes and fans alike are expected to benefit from the enhanced playing conditions, with the brighter palette promising better visibility for spectators and the advanced substrate aimed at reducing impact forces.
