A Familiar Face Returns to the Rush
The Rapid City Rush, the ECHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames, announced the signing of forward Ryan Mahshie for the 2026‑27 season, adding a veteran presence to a roster eager to contend.
Mahshie, 27, spent the previous campaign with the Wheeling Nailers, where he posted 17 points — six goals and eleven assists — in 45 games, a performance that helped the team secure a playoff berth.
His rights were acquired in a trade that also brought Eric Parker and Cole Tymkin to Rapid City on March 13, a deal that was finalized in June and underscored the club’s strategy of bolstering depth through strategic moves.
Across his ECHL career, which has included stints with Orlando, Allen, Worcester and Wheeling, Mahshie has compiled 26 points — 11 goals and 15 assists — in 119 games, demonstrating consistency and adaptability.
The forward previously skated under Coach Dave Smith for three seasons at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute before completing his collegiate journey at the University of Connecticut, a connection that adds a personal dimension to the new partnership.
General Manager Jeff Jackson highlighted the signing as a blend of experience and chemistry, noting that Mahshie’s familiarity with the organization’s system should accelerate his integration.
