Northern Bedford sophomore Kolson Feathers turned in a dominant outing, tossing five no‑hit innings to power his team to a 7‑1 victory over Rockwood in the District 5 Class 1A quarterfinals.
Feathers fanned nine batters while walking three, navigating five baserunners over his five frames and retiring the side in order on eight pitches in the third inning.
Coach Ryan Cherry lauded the young pitcher’s consistency and composure, noting that the performance was a testament to Feathers’ poise under pressure.
Semifinals outlook
The Panthers now await a showdown with Meyersdale in the semifinals, a matchup that could further test the depth of a roster that blends youthful talent with seasoned seniors.
Junior Ty Kagarise closed out the game, working the final two innings and allowing just one run on a single hit while striking out four.
Offensively, Jordan Free sparked the early lead with a triple in the first inning, later scoring on a Kagarise single, and Zach Bowers added two hits alongside Free.
The team’s lineup features five sophomores, two freshmen and a senior, underscoring a promising future for Northern Bedford baseball.
