Razorbacks Embark on Bahamian Exhibition Circuit
Arkansas will open a four‑game exhibition series in the Bahamas as part of the Baha Mar Summer League, using the trip to forge chemistry among a roster that blends eight freshmen with two transfers.
The Razorbacks' lineup features Billy Richmond, the sole holdover from last season's Sweet 16 run, alongside newcomers such as VJ Edgecombe, Miikka Muurinen and Isaiah Sealy, though the latter two are currently sidelined by injury and eligibility hurdles.
Coach John Calipari will not pace the bench during games; instead he will be present for pre‑game briefings, halftime adjustments and post‑game debriefs, while assistant Kenny Payne takes the reins for Friday's matchup against the Bahamian national team.
Eligibility questions surround freshman Miikka Muurinen, who must clear NCAA clearance before making his debut, and Isaiah Sealy, who remains out with a knee injury, while Paolo Semedo missed Thursday's open practice.
The Bahamian side will field a squad without its star NBA alumni Buddy Hield and DeAndre Ayton, and after a 101‑52 loss to Louisville on July 28, the team will be missing several key contributors including Domnick Bridgewater, Sammy Hunter, Zane Knowles, Deyton Albury, Isaiah Southerland and Javez Coleby.
Despite the limited roster, the exhibition offers Arkansas a chance to test new combinations and evaluate depth ahead of the regular season, with the Baha Mar Convention Center serving as the primary venue in Nassau.
A Young Squad Tests New Frontiers
The trip also highlights the growing international footprint of college basketball, with the Razorbacks joining a lineup that includes teams from France, Texas A&M‑Corpus Christi, New Mexico, East Tennessee State and Louisville in a showcase of cross‑border competition.
Fans can follow the action on the official Arkansas Razorbacks website and the Bahamas national basketball team's portal, while sponsors such as Fos Provence will be visible throughout the tournament.
