Indiana Field Hockey Coach Kayla Bashore revealed the addition of Jessie Mauro to the 2026 roster, a move that underscores the program’s growing international footprint.
Mauro, a Nottingham native who starred at Trent College and honed her game with Beeston Hockey Club under James Henderson, arrives after a standout season that saw her crowned Player of the Season and guide her side to three consecutive tournament victories.
Her accolades include a U16 Player of the Season award and the 2024 Most Improved Women’s Player honor, credentials that have drawn attention from collegiate programs across the United States.
At Indiana University, Mauro plans to major in Sports Science, a decision motivated by the campus’s reputation for blending academic rigor with a supportive athletic community.
She cited the welcoming atmosphere and the sense of family within the Hoosier squad as decisive factors in her choice, noting that the environment felt uniquely inclusive.
Mauro is the daughter of JP and Michelle Mauro and the eldest of five siblings — Leo, Casey, Tabby and Bella — who have cheered her journey from the sidelines of Nottingham’s sporting fields.
Coach Bashore emphasized that Mauro’s blend of skill, work ethic, and collegial spirit aligns perfectly with the program’s ambitions, promising an exciting future for the Hoosiers on the national stage.
