Camp lineup and expectations
The upcoming USA Hockey development camp will gather 40 of the nation’s top collegiate women’s players, all hoping to secure a place on the U.S. Collegiate Women’s Select Team that will meet Canada in a three‑game series in Richmond, British Columbia, from Aug. 12‑15.
Among the invitees are two UConn forwards who are entering pivotal seasons for the Huskies. One is preparing for her freshman year after a standout run with the Burlington Barracudas, where she tallied 102 points in 71 games; the other is gearing up for her junior campaign, having already collected Rookie of the Year and Second Team All‑Star honors in Hockey East.
Both players bring recent international experience: the freshman captured a gold medal at the 2025 U18 Women’s Worlds, while the junior contributed to a silver‑medal effort at the 2024 Women’s Euro Hockey Tour.
The camp will be overseen by John Wroblewski, the head coach of the U.S. women’s national team that captured gold at the 2026 Milan‑Cortina Games, adding a layer of high‑level guidance to the selection process.
Julia Pellerin, a UConn senior who led the Hockey East conference in scoring with 34 points in 36 games during the 2024‑25 season, was also invited but was unable to attend the camp. She capped her collegiate career by appearing in all 39 games of the 2025‑26 season, leading the team with 203 shots and seven game‑winning goals. Her father, Scott Pellerin, a 1992 Hobey Baker Award winner and former NHL player, remains a notable figure in the sport.
