A New Era of Coaching
Michigan’s men’s basketball program announced that Dylan Murphy will join the coaching staff as an assistant coach for the 2026‑27 season, bringing a blend of offensive expertise and data‑driven strategy to Ann Arbor.
Murphy spent the last three years at the helm of the Osceola Magic of the NBA G League, guiding the club to three consecutive conference titles and earning G League Coach of the Month honors in March 2025.
His coaching journey began with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, where he contributed to a championship run in 2013‑14, later serving as an assistant with the Orlando Magic and as a basketball operations analyst before that.
Expanding the Staff
The Wolverines are also welcoming Mike Martin from Brown University to focus on offensive strategy, while KT Harrell, previously the director of basketball operations, steps onto the court as an on‑court assistant.
The roster also includes strength and conditioning coach Matt Aldred, assistant Akeem Miskdeen, general manager Kyle Church, analytics director Jacob Kohn and special assistant Brandon Gilbert, rounding out a multidisciplinary unit.

Head coach Mike Boynton Jr. emphasized the value of diverse backgrounds, noting that the new staff reflects a commitment to innovative, non‑traditional approaches in modern college basketball.
