La Joya High School is set to undergo a $3 million transformation of its baseball field, a move that district officials say will revitalize the program and reclaim its status as the jewel of the Valley.
The overhaul, funded entirely by La Joya ISD’s capital budget, will replace the existing surface with state‑of‑the‑art synthetic turf, install modern dugouts, erect a new fence and add batting‑cage nets designed for year‑round practice.
A Timely Revitalization
Construction is slated to begin at the end of August, with work scheduled to wrap up by December, just in time for the upcoming baseball season. The tight timeline reflects the district’s urgency to provide a high‑quality playing surface for its student‑athletes.
S.B. Pierson, La Joya ISD’s Chief Operations Officer, explained that the investment is not merely cosmetic. “We are committed to delivering a high‑quality academic and competition environment,” Pierson said, adding that the upgrades are intended to position La Joya High School once again at the forefront of high school baseball in the region.
Local coaches and parents have welcomed the project, noting that the new facilities will give players a competitive edge and help attract talent to the program. Community leaders also see the field improvements as a catalyst for broader revitalization efforts in the area.
