Arkansas opened its preseason campaign with a commanding 106-59 victory over The Bahamas National Team in the inaugural game of the Baha Mar Summer League, a result that set the tone for what the Razorbacks hope will be a deep run in the upcoming season.
The Razorbacks forced 26 turnovers and limited their opponents to just 36.4% shooting, a defensive showing that underscored the coaching staff’s emphasis on pressure and transition.
Freshman guard Jordan Smith Jr. led the scoring with a game-high 22 points, adding six assists, four rebounds and three steals despite a cold night from beyond the arc. Alongside him, 7-foot Australian prospect Maper Maker contributed four points, six rebounds, five blocks and five steals in just 21 minutes, showcasing a rare blend of size and defensive versatility.
JJ Andrews chipped in 16 points, five rebounds and two assists, highlighted by a corner three and a pump-and-drive dunk. Abdou Toure posted 16 points and 10 rebounds with four blocks and two steals, while 17-year-old Davion Thompson scored 17 points on 3-for-7 three-point shooting.
Veteran Billy Richmond III added 16 points, six assists and five rebounds, providing a steadying presence for a young roster. Head coach John Calipari praised the collective effort, noting that the early chemistry could prove decisive as the regular season approaches.
