Paraag Marathe, who spent 25 years with the San Francisco 49ers, confirmed that he will leave the organization to devote his energy to other sports enterprises.
He will retain his positions as chairman of Leeds United and vice chairman of Rangers FC, where he oversees both commercial and sporting operations across the two clubs.
During his tenure in the Bay Area, he became known for shaping the team’s salary‑cap strategy, a role that helped the 49ers maintain competitiveness under a tight financial framework.
He also led the franchise’s analytics department and was instrumental in the planning and opening of Levi’s Stadium between 2010 and 2016, shaping the stadium’s operational model.
Jed York, the team’s owner, praised Marathe’s leadership and long‑term commitment in an email confirming the departure, highlighting the executive’s impact on the club’s culture.
Following the announcement, assistant general manager Brian Hampton and vice president of personnel and strategy Kwesi Adofo‑Mensah will assume responsibility for the salary‑cap management duties that Marathe previously held.
Marathe’s journey with the 49ers began in 2001 when he joined as a data analyst, a role that set the stage for his rapid ascent within the organization.
