A Community‑Driven Basketball Clinic
A free back‑to‑school basketball clinic opened its doors this Saturday in Baton Rouge, offering young athletes a chance to sharpen their game while receiving a suite of supportive services.
The event, staged at the Team Automotive Group Sportsplex, was a collaborative effort between the Baton Rouge Basketball and Volleyball Association and the Langston Galoway Foundation, drawing students who will be entering grades four through eleven.
Coaches led drills and skill sessions, while volunteers provided academic tutoring, health‑and‑wellness workshops, and lessons on financial literacy, weaving together sport with classroom and life lessons.
Organizers said the clinic’s broader mission is to instill confidence, character and decision‑making skills that extend beyond the court, helping participants envision success in school, sport and future endeavors.
Community partners, including Team Automotive Group, contributed resources and venue space, underscoring a shared commitment to youth development in the region.
