Free Soccer Program for Chicago Youth Launches at McKinley Park

The Youth Soccer for Success initiative, presented with the U.S. Soccer Foundation and Active Network, offers weekly sessions for children aged 10 to 12.

A Community Soccer Initiative

Chicago’s west side is set to welcome a new free soccer program designed specifically for children between the ages of 10 and 12. The initiative, called Youth Soccer for Success, aims to introduce youngsters to the fundamentals of the sport while simultaneously fostering healthy habits and essential life skills.

Sessions will take place every Monday from 3:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. at McKinley Park, within the west gymnasium of the field house located at 2210 W. Pershing Road. The convenient after‑school slot is intended to accommodate students’ academic schedules while providing a safe, structured environment for athletic development.

The program is being delivered in partnership with the U.S. Soccer Foundation, a national organization dedicated to expanding access to soccer in underserved communities. In addition, the Active Network is supporting the effort, providing logistical expertise and promotional resources through its platform.

Organizers emphasize that the curriculum goes beyond ball control and tactical play. Coaches will integrate lessons on nutrition, teamwork, and personal responsibility, ensuring that participants walk away with a holistic understanding of what it means to lead a healthy, balanced life.

Families interested in enrolling their children can find detailed information on the Soccer For Success at McKinley web page hosted by the Active Network. The site outlines registration steps, program goals, and contact information for further inquiries.
