The Texas Sports Writers Association has announced its Class 6A all‑state baseball team, recognizing a handful of standout athletes who excelled both at the plate and on the mound during the recent season.
Statewide Recognition
Samuel Kennedy of Churchill High School earned first‑team honors as both a shortstop and a pitcher, capping a season that saw him bat .505, hit six home runs, drive in 31 runs and post a 7‑1 record with a 1.68 ERA and 55 strikeouts in 58⅓ innings.
Caine Chapman from Reagan High School shared co‑MVP honors in District 27‑6A and was selected to the third team as a catcher. He batted .402, added 21 RBIs, stole 25 of 26 bases and threw out 40 percent of opposing runners.
Other divisions also saw notable selections: Cal Isley of Boerne Champion was named first‑team relief pitcher in the 5A bracket, while Luke Spielhagen from Alamo Heights earned a third‑team outfielder spot in the same division. Arik Alcala from Davenport received third‑team shortstop recognition in the 4A category.
The list of honorable mentions reflects the depth of talent across the state, with additional players from Boerne Champion, Davenport and other programs receiving nods in their respective divisions.
The acknowledgments underscore the Texas Sports Writers Association’s role in spotlighting the next generation of baseball talent, a tradition that continues to shape the competitive landscape of high school athletics across the Lone Star State.
