Free Soccer Sessions Arrive at McKinley Park
Every Monday afternoon, a vibrant group of children gathers on the fields of McKinley Park, located at 2210 W. Pershing Road in Chicago, to take part in a complimentary soccer program designed especially for youngsters between the ages of six and nine.
The hour‑long sessions, which run from 4:15 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., focus on teaching basic soccer techniques while simultaneously encouraging healthy habits and reinforcing essential life skills such as teamwork, discipline and confidence.
A Community Partnership
The initiative, known as Kids Soccer for Success, is made possible through the collaboration of the U.S. Soccer Foundation, a national organization dedicated to expanding access to the sport, and the Active Network, which provides the online platform where families can learn more about the program.
By offering the sessions at no cost, the program removes financial barriers that often prevent families from participating in organized sports, aiming to foster inclusive play across the neighborhood.
Parents interested in enrolling their children can find detailed information, registration steps and schedule updates on the Soccer For Success at McKinley page hosted by the Active Network, ensuring that all necessary resources are easily accessible online.
Beyond the field, the program’s curriculum is crafted to instill habits that support physical well‑being and personal development, reflecting a holistic approach to youth enrichment that extends far beyond the game itself.
