NASCAR and Delta Sigma Theta Forge a Groundbreaking Partnership
At the 2026 South Atlantic Regional Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina, NASCAR rolled out its first show car emblazoned with the colors and letters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, marking a vivid intersection of professional racing and a historic Greek‑letter organization.
The custom vehicle, crafted by Camilla Wilkins‑Bowens, a student at Louisiana State University and a member of Delta Sigma Theta initiated in fall 2025, was developed under the NASCAR NEXT Internship Program, which encourages emerging talent to design projects that blend sport with community outreach.
Conference attendees were invited to test the car in a series of interactive racing simulators, while the booth highlighted Delta Sigma Theta’s long‑standing commitment to service, education and advocacy within African‑American communities.
Founded on January 13, 1913, at Howard University by twenty‑two collegiate women, Delta Sigma Theta has grown into a global network of more than 350,000 members spanning over a thousand chapters across continents, from Canada and Japan to the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Korea.
The Charlotte appearance represented NASCAR’s inaugural participation in a Divine Nine gathering, a coalition of historically Black Greek‑letter fraternities and sororities, underscoring a new era of collaboration that seeks to amplify youth engagement and mentorship opportunities.
Beyond the spectacle, the partnership signals a broader strategy to embed corporate sport initiatives within social empowerment programs, leveraging the reach of motorsport to support educational scholarships, leadership development and civic activism.
