The 2026 campaign for Southern Arizona’s 1A football landscape promises a surge of talent as several standout seniors announce their return. Their experience from the 2025 season positions them as cornerstones for their respective programs.
Returning Standouts
Derek Anaya, a senior defensive lineman from San Manuel, will reprise his role after earning 1A East First Team honors and posting 36 tackles, two sacks and a pass defended last season. Emmitt Etter, also a senior from St. David, brings First Team All‑State recognition and a season that included 16 tackles, an interception and 30 yards on return duties.
Logan Flake, another senior from St. David, earned dual honors as a defensive back and a wide receiver, contributing both defensively and offensively, while Daniel Najera from San Manuel tallied 112 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions and eight receiving touchdowns.
Keston Richardson, a senior defensive lineman from St. David, returns after a breakout year that saw him record 47 tackles, 7.5 sacks and two forced fumbles, adding depth to the defensive front.
Junior offensive lineman Damien Cervantes from San Manuel earned First Team honors for his run blocking and pass protection, while senior Luke Gorman from St. David provides leadership on the Tigers’ offensive line after being named First Team All‑State.
Community and School Pride
Both San Manuel High School and St. David High School will lean on these veterans as they look to defend their recent successes and inspire younger teammates. The schools’ programs, supported by dedicated coaches and families, continue to nurture talent that competes at the state level.
