On July 14, Tyler Newton, founder and director of NorCal Ryze basketball, addressed the Chico Noon Exchange Club, sharing the organization’s mission and upcoming plans.
Newton outlined how NorCal Ryze has grown into a year‑round academy that offers competitive basketball training, tournaments and developmental programs for young athletes across the region.
He was joined on stage by Coach AJ Barandeh and five of the program’s promising players, underscoring the collaborative spirit that drives the club’s community focus.
A Vision for Youth Basketball
The centerpiece of the discussion was the forthcoming ‘The Nest’ facility, a state‑of‑the‑art complex designed to serve as a hub for skill development, team gatherings and family engagement.
The Nest will feature three NCAA‑regulation courts, a championship‑size court and a dedicated practice court, along with team rooms, a lounge, café and multi‑purpose spaces for events and meetings.
Beyond the courts, the facility aims to foster holistic growth, supporting athletes’ progress on the court and in their personal lives.

Newton emphasized that the organization’s goal is to create a lasting community resource that brings together athletes, families and local residents in a shared pursuit of excellence.
