Tyler Newton, founder and director of NorCal Ryze basketball, addressed the Chico Noon Exchange Club on July 14, sharing the organization’s progress and future plans alongside coach AJ Barandeh and a group of five promising young athletes.
The presentation highlighted the Ryze Avengers program, a competitive youth basketball pathway that blends skill development with community engagement, and emphasized the organization’s role as a year‑round academy and community center in Chico, California.
A Vision for the Future of Youth Basketball
Central to NorCal Ryze’s expansion is ‘The Nest’, a state‑of‑the‑art facility planned for Chico that will feature NCAA‑regulation courts, modern training spaces, team rooms, a lounge, café and multi‑purpose rooms for events.
According to Newton, the new venue aims to become more than a court; it will serve as a home for athletes, teams, families and the wider community, fostering growth both on and off the court through structured programs and supportive amenities.
The initiative underscores a commitment to holistic development, emphasizing character building, teamwork and academic support alongside athletic excellence, ensuring that participants gain valuable life skills while pursuing their sport.
