The Utah baseball team dropped a 9-5 decision to Kansas State in the Big 12 Tournament on Tuesday, a contest that remained deadlocked at five runs apiece through seven innings before the Wildcats pulled away.
Kansas State erupted in the eighth, plating four runs to take the lead for good, while Utah’s offense sputtered after the tie.
Standout Performances
Luke Jacobs provided the lone highlight for the Utes, launching a solo home run and crossing the plate twice, whereas Jake Long doubled twice, drove in two runs and added two more scores.
Matt Flaharty extended his hitting streak to 11 games, and Long recorded his team‑leading 24th multi‑hit game of the season. On the mound, Demitri Diamant opened with three shutout innings before a carousel of eight pitchers took over.
