Chapel Thrill Game Day Returns for 2026
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has unveiled a six‑act concert series that will punctuate the 2026 football season, branding each pregame gathering as "Chapel Thrill Game Day" at the historic Polk Place.
Fans will be treated to a free musical lineup before every home game at Kenan Stadium, with performances kicking off two hours before kickoff and food and drinks available for purchase.
Opening the series on September 12, Shaquille O’Neal, known professionally as DJ Diesel, will spin tracks ahead of the Tar Heels’ season opener against East Tennessee State.
Country artist Chase Rice, a former UNC linebacker, returns on October 3 for the showdown with Notre Dame, marking his second consecutive appearance.
On October 24, the North Carolina native band Parmalee, celebrated for six Billboard No. 1 hits since 2001, will take the stage before the game against Syracuse.
Alternative rockers Neon Trees, famed for "Animal" and "Everybody Talks," are slated for October 31 against Miami, followed by rapper Waka Flocka Flame on November 14 versus Louisville.
The series wraps on November 28 with southern rock legends 38 Special, whose catalog boasts more than 20 million albums sold since 1974, before the rivalry game with N.C. State.
Rick Barakat, UNC’s deputy athletic director, emphasized the event’s growing popularity and the university’s commitment to delivering memorable experiences for fans.
All concerts are presented in partnership with The Rams Club and the University of North Carolina, underscoring the collaboration between athletics, student groups and local sponsors.
