Texas A&M’s soccer program has begun its preseason schedule, opening with exhibition matches against UIW and a home game against Texas as the team adjusts to life under new head coach Bobby Shuttleworth.
Shuttleworth has made daily preparation and the chance to test the squad against varied opponents the cornerstone of his early strategy, insisting that the process will shape the Aggies’ readiness for the 2026 season.
A Fresh Look in the Midfield
Returning midfielder Kat Campbell, who has been a mainstay in the lineup, spoke of a renewed confidence that stems from both the talent surrounding her and the fresh coaching staff that now guides the team.
Sophomore forward Emma Hoang added that the chemistry within the group has already shown marked improvement, crediting the coaching staff’s recruitment efforts and the seamless integration of new players.
First Test on Wednesday Night
The Aggies’ first preseason encounter with UIW is slated for Wednesday at 7 p.m., with free admission and parking available for fans who wish to attend.
Following that match, the team will travel to face Texas before opening the regular season at Rice on August 12 and hosting Sam Houston at home on August 22.
Shuttleworth has repeatedly emphasized that these early games are less about the scoreboard and more about fine‑tuning tactics, building cohesion and giving the newcomers a chance to acclimate.
