Aurora to Host 50th Annual Adaptive Baseball World Series

A week‑long tournament showcases beep baseball, community spirit, and the sport’s unique sound‑guided play.

The city of Aurora will welcome athletes, families, and fans for the 50th Annual Adaptive Baseball World Series, a week‑long celebration of beep baseball that runs from August 3 through August 8, 2026.

A Sport Defined by Sound

Beep baseball blends the familiar rhythm of softball with an audible twist: a 16‑inch ball equipped with a beeping device and foam bases that emit a buzzing signal. Players who are blind or visually impaired rely on these sounds to track the ball, sprint toward buzzing bases, and field defensive plays, turning every hit into a sensory adventure.

More than 500 athletes from 21 teams across the United States will compete in over 100 games at the Stuart Sports Complex, with the tournament organized by the National Beep Baseball Association, a nonprofit founded in Chicago in 1976.

The event has become a community festival, featuring food trucks, local vendors, and activities that invite residents to experience the excitement beyond the diamond.

Voices of the Game

Richie Flores, president of the National Beep Baseball Association, highlighted the tournament’s role in fostering competition, teamwork, and personal growth, noting that the sport continues to break barriers for athletes with visual impairments.

Among the competing squads is the Chicago Comets, the only team from the city to appear in every NBBA World Series since the championship’s inception, underscoring Chicago’s long‑standing commitment to the league.

Spectators are encouraged to attend the games, cheer for their favorite teams, and share in the camaraderie that defines this milestone celebration.
