A Grueling Road Ahead
The 2026 schedule for Lynn Tech’s football program reads like a test of endurance. Six consecutive road games bookend a season that will not see the Tigers on their own turf until October 30, when they finally host Nashoba Tech. The early slate is designed to push the team into unfamiliar territory, but the coaching staff views it as an opportunity rather than a burden.
Head coach James Runner has framed the road‑heavy stretch as a chance to build resilience and tighten chemistry. "We’re using the tough schedule as motivation," Runner said. "Every away game is a chance to grow, to learn how to rely on each other when the lights are different and the crowds are louder."
To keep morale high, Runner plans to treat each road trip as a team event, organizing meals and activities that go beyond practice. The approach aims to turn long bus rides into bonding experiences, fostering a sense of camaraderie that can translate into better performance on the field.
The team’s first practice is slated for August 24, and the season opener will take place on September 11 against Malden. From there, the Tigers will travel to Monty Tech, Saugus, Monomoy, Lowell Catholic and Minuteman before finally returning home for their first home game on October 30 against Nashoba Tech.
Week 6 offers a rare bye, which Runner plans to spend watching the Boston College game and visiting alumni at Framingham State University and Curry College. The break provides a chance to recharge while still staying connected to the broader football community.
Beyond the regular season, the schedule includes a home matchup against KIPP on November 25, giving the Tigers a final chance to showcase the progress made during the grueling road stretch. Runner believes the experience gained will be invaluable if the team hopes to make a deep run in any potential playoff scenario.
The Tigers’ journey will take them across Massachusetts and into neighboring states, from Lynn and Malden to Boston, Framingham and beyond. Each stop presents a new environment, but the common thread is the emphasis on unity, preparation and turning challenges into stepping stones toward a stronger, more cohesive squad.
