A new era for the Cougars
The Saint Francis Cougars are gearing up for the start of their second season under head coach Adam Sherman, a milestone that has the program buzzing with optimism.
After finishing the 2025 campaign with a 10‑3 record and a trip to the NAIA playoffs, the team enters 2026 with a clear sense of momentum.
Sherman, who took over the program two years ago, said the squad has made tangible progress in closing the gaps that held them back in earlier seasons.
Building on last year's success
A key part of that progress is the arrival of a highly touted freshman class, which Sherman described as one of the strongest recruiting hauls in recent memory.
Several of those newcomers are expected to see immediate playing time, adding depth at positions that were thin a year ago.
Opening night and beyond
The Cougars will travel to Campbellsville for their season opener on August 29, marking the first of what promises to be a demanding slate of games. While the opponent is still building its own roster, the matchup offers a chance for the Cougars to showcase the chemistry they have cultivated during preseason drills.
