Michigan’s football program is entering its fall camp, a pivotal period that will determine the final shape of the roster ahead of the season opener against Western Michigan on September 5.
The Wolverines are doing so under a new coaching regime, with Kyle Whittingham now leading the team after the Big Ten media days in Chicago.
At left tackle, the battle is between redshirt freshman Andrew Babalola and redshirt sophomore Blake Frazier, a contest complicated by Babalola’s history of ACL injuries.
Key Position Battles
The linebacker group will also look different, as the team does not have a returning starter and will rely on Troy Bowles, Chase Taylor, Nathaniel Staehling and several others to fill the void.
On the edge, Utah transfer John Henry Daley has secured a starting spot on one side, while the opposite edge remains open among Cam Brandt, Dominic Nichols, Nate Marshall and Lugard Edokpayi.
At wide receiver, the third‑receiver slot is contested between Jaime Ffrench and Salesi Moa, with the starting duo of Marsh and Buchanan already established.
The tight end position adds further intrigue, as Zack Marshall, who posted the most production among tight ends last season, battles Hogan Hansen for the starting role.
