Ty Redmond, a 6‑foot‑3, 200‑pound sophomore cornerback, is entering his second season with the Tennessee Volunteers in 2026. The Milton, Georgia native first arrived on campus in January 2025 after graduating early from Milton High School, a move that allowed him to take part in spring practices and accelerate his integration into the program.
Early impact in the SEC
During his freshman campaign he appeared in 13 games, starting 12, and posted 43 tackles, one tackle for loss, three interceptions and 15 pass breakups. Those numbers placed him atop the SEC among returning defenders for passes defended and breakups, a testament to his playmaking ability in the secondary.
His performance earned him SEC Co‑Freshman of the Week honors on November 17, 2025 after a standout showing against New Mexico State, where he recorded five tackles, a pass breakup and an interception in a 42‑9 homecoming victory. The recognition was complemented by selections to the SEC All‑Freshman Team, the coaches’ All‑SEC Third Team and the Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll.
Redmond’s early enrollment and participation in spring drills underscore his commitment to the Volunteers’ defensive scheme. Coaches have praised his size, speed and football intelligence, traits that project him as a key piece in the team’s secondary as they look to build on recent successes.
