The Waterford American Legion 19U baseball club entered the Connecticut championship series with a flawless record against state rivals, having won every matchup throughout the season.
In the opening game they fell 7‑4, and a day later the margin tightened to 6‑5, ending the unbeaten streak but leaving the team with a hard‑fought finish.
A Bittersweet End to a Perfect Season
Brayden Edwards of South Windsor was recognized as the tournament’s Most Outstanding Hitter after his performance in the first loss, a testament to his offensive impact.
The setbacks did not dim the team’s prospects; instead, they earned a berth to the Mid‑Atlantic Regional, scheduled for August 6‑9, 2026, in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Waterford will join representatives from Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and New York, marking the second straight year the post has advanced to the regional stage, having previously lost to Greece, New York.
