Nathan Wara stepped onto the sideline of Oshkosh West High School this summer, inheriting a program that finished the previous year with a 1-8 record. Wara, who previously coached at UW-Oshkosh and Fond du Lac High School, replaces Joey Ray, who departed after three seasons. The roster retains several standout athletes who will be crucial to the team's revival. Returning quarterback Drew Abitz, running back Wyatt Marten, wide receiver Owen Heim, and top tacklers Cade Heiman and Melvin Byes are expected to anchor the offense and defense. Home Field Shift
Most of the team's home games will be played at Meronk Field, a venue that offers a modern playing surface and a more intimate fan experience. The only exception is a scheduled matchup against Oshkosh North, which will take place at Titan Stadium, adding a traditional rivalry element to the season.
The 2026 campaign opens on August 21 with a home contest against Brookfield Central. The early start signals the program's intent to hit the ground running and set a tone of immediacy for the new era.
