Wartburg College announced that James Hofmann has been appointed assistant coach of the Knights' men's soccer team, effective with the upcoming 2026 season. His addition is expected to bolster the program's continued ascent in the competitive Midwest conference landscape.
A Record of Measurable Growth
During his tenure at Bethany College, Hofmann helped transform a modest squad into a powerhouse, with the team's win total increasing fivefold in the 2025 season. He also mentored two All‑Presidents' Athletic Conference selections and contributed to a program that captured the 2023 SUNYAC Championship while advancing to the NCAA Division III Sweet 16.
Hofmann's coaching journey also includes a stint with the Philadelphia Union Youth Academy, where he worked with both the second‑team and U‑14 squads during the 2023‑24 season. A graduate of SUNY Cortland with a Bachelor of Science in Coaching, he helped develop one United Soccer Coaches All‑American and earned seven All‑SUNYAC honors while at Cortland.
His professional achievements were recognized with the 2023 SUNYAC Coaching Staff of the Year award and the NCAA Division III Region III Coaching Staff of the Year honor. At a recent ceremony, Hofmann expressed gratitude to Coach Christian Coridon and John Cochrane for their support in facilitating his move to Wartburg.
