Yale’s football program is on the cusp of a historic milestone, poised to capture its twentieth Ivy League championship in the upcoming 2026 season after a dominant 2025 campaign that earned an automatic NCAA FCS Playoff berth.
The Bulldogs entered the 2025 campaign with 127 preseason votes, including fifteen first‑place selections, underscoring the confidence coaches and analysts have in the squad. They opened the season with a decisive victory over Harvard, cementing their dominance in the league.
Defensive standout Abu Kamara was recognized as both a Phil Steele Preseason All‑American and the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year, highlighting the team’s strength on that side of the ball. Kevin Cahill is associated with the program as it prepares for the upcoming season.
The 2026 schedule opens on September 19 against Holy Cross before Ivy League play begins, with matchups against Cornell and a home game versus Merrimack later in October.
The 2025 season concluded with a 9‑3 overall record and a 6‑1 mark in Ivy play, a campaign that ended abruptly with a narrow loss to eventual national champion Montana State in the playoffs.
