Preseason Injury Report
Notre Dame released a preseason availability update on Tuesday, confirming that five players will be unavailable for fall camp practice, among them offensive lineman Charles Jagusah, who is recovering from a left humerus fracture.
In addition, six other athletes, including linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa, are slated for modified activity but are expected to be fully ready for the 2026 season, which opens in 33 days.
The Irish’s first game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET against Wisconsin at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, marking the team’s earliest matchup of the year.
New entries on the injury list include defensive lineman Christopher Burgess Jr., who suffered a left tibia stress fracture, and Tiki Hola, who is healing from right‑knee ACL surgery; offensive lineman Peter Jones is dealing with a right‑shoulder pectoral strain, and linebacker Ko’o Kia is recovering from left‑shoulder labrum surgery.
Players such as linebacker Ja’Kobe Clapper, running back Javian Osborne, defensive tackle Gordy Sulfsted and running back Kedren Young, who were unavailable during the spring, are now projected to participate in preseason camp.
Safety Joey O’Brien and cornerback Khary Adams, both of whom missed spring practice due to injuries, are expected to be cleared for camp after coach Marcus Freeman indicated they would be ready.
During a March 18 news conference, Notre Dame’s director of athletic training Rob Hunt provided details on the injuries of players like Ashton Craig, Tiki Hola, Charles Jagusah, Quincy Porter and Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa, outlining the timeline for each recovery.
Head coach Marcus Freeman expressed cautious optimism about Viliamu-Asa’s progress, stating that the linebacker will practice but will not be full‑go at the start of camp, while remaining confident about his availability for the upcoming season.
Overall, the team’s preparation hinges on integrating the returning talent while managing the sidelined group, as the Irish look to make a strong start against their Wisconsin opponent.
