Liberty Field Hockey Celebrates Record Academic Honors
The Liberty University field hockey program announced that 20 of its student‑athletes have been selected for the 2025‑26 BIG EAST All‑Academic Team, a distinction that brings the program’s total All‑Academic selections to 201 over the past decade.
Among the honorees are senior standouts Lou Combrinck, Tori Griffiths and Anna Miller, each earning a fourth consecutive appearance on the conference’s academic roster, underscoring the program’s blend of athletic competitiveness and scholarly excellence.
Championship Success Coupled with Scholastic Excellence
Liberty capped the season by capturing both the BIG EAST regular‑season and tournament titles in its tenth year of conference play, finishing with a 62‑13 record in league competition and a cumulative team GPA of 3.53. The 2025‑26 squad posted a 3.56 average GPA, continuing a multi‑year trend of academic performance that outpaces many of its peers.
The achievement is set against a backdrop of conference‑wide recognition: 172 student‑athletes from the eight BIG EAST field hockey schools earned All‑Academic honors for the 2025‑26 cycle, all of whom maintained a minimum 3.00 GPA, completed at least 18 semester credits, and participated in a conference‑sponsored sport.
Program leaders say the dual focus on winning and learning reflects a deliberate strategy that has paid dividends on the scoreboard and in the classroom, positioning Liberty as a model for other mid‑major programs seeking sustained success.
