Six veterans who have already started for Texas Tech or other collegiate programs give the defense a depth that was reflected in a nation‑leading run‑stop average of just 68 yards per game last year.
Defensive Coordinator Shiel Wood noted that the unit’s maturity, especially among second‑ and third‑year players, has created a foundation for continued improvement.
Coaching insight
Head coach Joey McGuire highlighted the offensive line’s upgraded quality and depth, saying the group will allow the offense to build on the momentum generated by the championship run.
