Scott King’s ascent to head coach of the Moose Jaw Warriors marks the culmination of a ten‑year journey inside the franchise, during which he has observed every facet of the organization’s daily operations and player development.
King’s hockey pedigree stretches back to his WHL days with the Kelowna Rockets, where he recorded 40 goals and 97 points in 68 games during the 1996‑97 season. He later endured 18 professional seasons across the AHL, ECHL and Germany’s top league, the DEL, before earning caps with Canada’s national team.
His international résumé includes four appearances at the Deutschland Cup and a memorable stint with Adler Mannheim at the 2009‑10 Spengler Cup, highlighting a career that bridged North America and Europe.
A legacy reshaped
Mark O’Leary, who steered the Warriors from 2020 to 2024, is leaving to join the Abbotsford Canucks in the AHL. Under his guidance the club captured its first WHL Championship, a milestone that cemented his place in the franchise’s history.
King, a lifelong resident of Moose Jaw, expressed deep gratitude for the community’s unwavering support, noting that the team’s success has always been built on a collaborative environment that nurtures talent both on and off the ice.
The Warriors’ leadership says the promotion reflects a deliberate strategy to blend continuity with fresh perspective, leveraging King’s intimate knowledge of the organization to sustain momentum as the club looks toward future championships.
