Portland Hearts of Pine unveils waterfront stadium vision
Portland Hearts of Pine is set to construct a $50 million soccer‑specific stadium at Cassidy Point in the city’s West End, a site that will accommodate 9,000 to 11,000 fans.
The venue is intended to become the permanent home for the club’s men’s USL League One side and its upcoming women’s team, while also delivering a 600‑foot working waterfront pier that will remain dedicated to marine activities.
Council endorsement and community outreach
City Councilors Pious Ali and Anna Bullett praised the club’s community‑engagement approach and highlighted the stadium’s alignment with Portland’s long‑term waterfront redevelopment goals.
The club has consistently sold out matches at its current Fitzpatrick Stadium, built a season‑ticket waiting list of more than 8,000 supporters, and ranked seventh in attendance among USL Championship venues.
A separate women’s team has already secured 5,000 season‑ticket deposits within an hour of opening sales, underscoring strong fan interest across both squads.
Because the existing facility fails to meet USL’s minimum field‑width standards, the club has operated under a waiver; the new stadium will eliminate that constraint.
Regulatory path and timeline
The project now requires zoning amendments, a process the city estimates will take about nine months before construction can commence in 2027, with an anticipated opening in early 2029.
