Preseason Honors
The Big Ten Conference has released its 2026 preseason honors, naming three quarterbacks who will headline the conference’s storylines heading into the new year.
Among them is USC’s own Jayden Maiava, who earned a spot on the list after a breakout redshirt junior season in which he guided the Trojans to a 9‑4 record and posted 3,711 passing yards with 24 touchdowns, six of which came on the ground.
Maiava’s dual‑threat ability was on full display throughout 2025, as he combined a strong aerial attack with six rushing scores, underscoring his growing chemistry with the Trojans’ offense.
The conference also recognized Ohio State’s Julian Sayin and Oregon’s Dante Moore, rounding out a quarterback trio that promises fresh competition and heightened expectations for the upcoming schedule.
USC will open the 2026 campaign on August 29 when it hosts San Jose State at the Coliseum, a matchup that will serve as the first test for Maiava and his teammates as they look to translate preseason accolades into on‑field success.
