Park City’s girls soccer squad began the season with a dramatic victory, edging 6A preseason No. 1 Lone Peak 4-1 after a 1-1 deadlock that stretched into overtime.
The Miners, ranked fifth in the preseason poll, leaned on a blend of seasoned contributors and fresh talent, with Elsa Dellenbach opening the scoring in the 33rd minute before Lone Peak’s Sami Schiffman equalized in the 72nd minute of extra time.
Goalkeeper Marley Filippone emerged as a decisive factor, producing a series of saves during the shootout that halted Lone Peak’s momentum and paved the way for Park City’s four‑converted penalties.
Hailey Olsen’s decisive strike in the shootout capped the comeback, sealing a win that highlighted the team’s depth and competitive readiness.
