A Season of Transition
Bergen Tech enters its fourth season under coach Pete Barno, who has built a consistent Wing‑T offense since taking over in 2020. The system emphasizes disciplined execution and a balanced attack, allowing the Knights to develop rhythm year after year.
The roster features 45 players, including 13 seniors, but only three starters return: quarterback Brady Hibinski, lineman Thomas Ficetola and Christian Tua. Hibinski’s experience as the first returning starter under Barno gives the offense a solid foundation, while Ficetola and Tua anchor the line.
Defensively, the team brings back seven starters, a depth that positions them to tighten up a unit that struggled in the previous 2‑7 season. The coaching staff believes this continuity will translate into more stops and fewer points allowed across Ivy League matchups.
The Ivy League has grown to 18 schools, and Bergen Tech now competes in the Gold Division, which spans four counties. Despite a 5‑4 record in 2022 and a 2‑7 mark in 2023, the program’s overall Ivy slate stands at 10‑36. The school’s academic emphasis remains on placing student‑athletes at elite colleges rather than chasing Top‑25 football rankings.
Looking ahead, the 2026 schedule includes contests against Montclair Kimberley, Dickinson, Kennedy, Belleville, Bergenfield, Millburn and Dover, offering a varied slate that will test the Knights both offensively and defensively.
