The Minnesota State High School League announced that the 2027 state basketball tournaments will be pushed back by a week, a move triggered by overlapping commitments at key arenas.
Both the girls' and boys' championship weekends will be delayed to accommodate the NCAA's national tournament schedule, which is set to occupy the same facilities during the original dates.
Rescheduling the Championships
The girls' tournament will now run from March 24 through March 27, while the boys' tournament follows a week later, concluding on April 3. These dates shift the traditional calendar but aim to preserve competitive balance.
Williams Arena has been earmarked as the primary site for the rescheduled events, serving as the home court for the University of Minnesota Women’s Basketball team and also slated to host portions of the NCAA National Tournament from March 17 to 20.
Meanwhile, the Target Center will host NCAA men’s basketball games from March 18 through March 21, further tightening the arena calendar and prompting the league to adjust its own timeline.
