Seaforth baseball continued its remarkable playoff streak on Tuesday, securing a 6‑3 victory over Rockingham County on the road. The win marks the fourth consecutive away triumph for the Hawks, edging them one game away from the 5A Eastern Regional championship.
Honeycutt’s Masterful Outing
Sophomore right‑hander Bryce Honeycutt turned in a complete‑game performance, silencing the Cougars’ bats with five straight scoreless innings. He finished the night with 10 strikeouts, the final out coming on his 103rd pitch when a pop‑up was caught at first base.
The offense got off to a quick start when Jaedyn Rader smashed a two‑run double in the top of the second inning, extending the lead to 2‑0. Rockingham County answered with an RBI single from Brady Hicks, but Seaforth answered back in the fourth when Rader drove in another run with a single to right, pushing the margin to two.
The real turning point came in the fifth inning when a passed ball allowed Easton Sykes to score from third, making the score 6‑3. Honeycutt’s dominance on the mound kept the Cougars at bay, and a double from Duncan Parker in the sixth set up another run.
What’s Next for the Hawks
With the series now tied, the Hawks and the Cougars will meet again on Thursday evening in Pittsboro. The upcoming showdown promises another tightly contested battle as both teams look to capitalize on the momentum built in the first game.
