A Homecoming for a Fighting Irish Alum
Mike Golic Sr., a former Notre Dame defensive lineman who spent a decade in the NFL, has been announced as the newest color commentator for the Notre Dame Radio Network’s 2026 college football season.
He will share the broadcast booth with veteran play‑by‑play voice Tony Simeone and studio analyst Johnny Soper, marking a reunion that fans have been anticipating.
Golic, who played for the Fighting Irish from 1981 to 1984 before being drafted in the tenth round by the Houston Oilers, said the university holds a permanent place in his heart and that returning to its airwaves feels like coming home.
His debut is slated for the opening game against Wisconsin on September 6 at Lambeau Field, a venue that will test his chemistry with Simeone and Soper before a national audience.
The announcement follows Golic’s recent comeback to ESPN Radio, where he now co‑hosts the show “The Golics” with his son, adding another layer to his multi‑platform return to the sport.
