A Fresh Coaching Addition
Northern Michigan University announced the addition of Josh Bouchard to its women's basketball coaching roster, positioning him as an assistant coach ready to contribute to the program's growth.
Bouchard arrives after a stint at Alma College where he helped guide the team to a fifth‑place finish in the MIAA conference during the 2025‑26 season, a campaign marked by a 11‑15 overall record and a notable victory over Otterbein University in the NCAA second round.
His coaching journey includes formative years at Saginaw Valley State University, where he served as a student assistant for four seasons, and a prior role at the University of West Florida, a Division II program known for competitive play.
Standout Players and Recent Success
During his time at Alma, two players earned second‑team All‑MIAA honors, highlighting the program's rising profile. Cadence Kaminske was recognized among the nation's top three‑point shooters, while Brooke LeRoux repeated as a second‑team All‑MIAA selection and delivered a career‑high 32‑point performance against Saint Mary's.
The 2025‑26 Alma squad also broke a drought by defeating Calvin College for the first time since 2021, underscoring the competitive edge that Bouchard helped cultivate.
Northern Michigan hopes to translate that momentum into its own schedule, leveraging Bouchard's experience and the recruiting pedigree of players who have thrived under his guidance.
The hiring reflects the university's commitment to building a program that can contend both in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and on the national stage.
