Stefon Diggs has agreed to a one‑year contract with the Washington Commanders for the 2026 season, a deal that can reach $12 million in total value.
The agreement marks a homecoming for Diggs, who starred at Good Counsel High School in Olney, Maryland, before playing college football at the University of Maryland.
2025 Campaign in New England
During the 2025 season Diggs appeared in all 17 games for the New England Patriots, recording 85 receptions for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns. He led the team in targets with 102, and 77 of those were short‑area targets under nine yards downfield.
Washington’s new offensive coordinator, David Blough, is expected to run an under‑center, play‑action heavy scheme. That style should give Diggs ample opportunities on crossing routes and other short‑to‑intermediate patterns.
Role on the Commanders
With Terry McLaurin projected as the team’s WR1, Diggs will operate as WR2, handling the bulk of the volume and becoming a prime target in PPR formats. The departure of Deebo Samuel, who topped the Commanders with 26 downfield targets in 2024, opens more space for Diggs in the intermediate game.
Fantasy analysts see Diggs as a late‑round WR3 who could outperform that designation, especially if the Commanders’ quarterback, Jayden Daniels, distributes the ball effectively.
